I could have ended the comic with the last scene in page five, but this imagery was very important to include in the story.
The wealth gap between those in power and the impoverished is a common theme in a dictator story. The more separated the power within a community is, the greater the imbalance between leaders and the ones they "serve".
I needed to show how the Zar has prioritized the preservation of his fleet. Technology through weaponry and warfare (he believes) is the last chance he has to save his people. So while the children go hungry, his warships remain powerful and clean.

That is so cool! Awesome lighting and smoke effect, plus the way Zar's hair is being blown away is very neat. The details on the ship are awesome as well, the cables, the supporters, and the opening looks so awesome!
